Hey, just a friendly reminder that...

We're looking for a design that will really stand out and catch people's attention right away. We want to capture the audience's attention, even if they're distracted. We want to create something so eye-catching, it's impossible to ignore. With this technique, we can also brighten up the space and make the surroundings more appealing.

Sorry, dear graphic competition, but this is functional graphic mechanics!

So, what ingredients should we use?

It's simple, we basically only use two ingredients!

Warning: If you display your idea from the first perspective that comes to mind, you probably won't make a great design. You might not wow your audience, but you can still do it in a way that works for you!

Let's go straight to the example

Let's illustrate this with a hypothetical example: Let's say you're making graphics for rowing competitions.

Now, tell me, what's the first thing that comes to mind? I'll try to guess. It would probably be rowers, right? So we should have the main motif. Rowers are lovely, they're charming on their own — absolutely! But definitely not like this:

We wouldn't want to get bogged down in the mundane, would we? That's how everyone imagines it! That's the challenge we're facing.

Now, let's dive into the promised change and explore it from a fresh, unusual perspective.

GRAPHIC ANATOMY – what works so well there?

Voilà! We have a graphic refresh right now, both for you and later for the viewer!

And you've won! In short, offer the distracted viewer an unusual, extraordinary view of your main subject. But don't stop there! Compare it to other versions to see what works best.

Want more proof of a radical perspective? WOW!

This perspective principle draws the viewer right into the poster, within the first second.

Friends, I encourage you to try looking at your main subject from a bird's or frog's perspective. It's a game-changer!

With graphic greetings Michal Žižka
